Handheld Access to Patient Information
EpicOnHand is built on a secure infrastructure that draws information from the Epicenter Enterprise Data Repository. Integrating seamlessly with Epic's applications, EpicOnHand extends access to core application functions to deliver clinical, scheduling, financial, and administrative information to anyone with a handheld.
With EpicOnHand, a variety of handheld users access a wealth of patient information, including demographics, allergies, immunization history, health maintenance reminders, chronic problems, medical history, current medications and lab results. Outside of the patient chart, users can check their daily schedule, quickly view the hospital census, maintain a personal rounding list, and do charge capture from anywhere, speeding reimbursement and virtually eliminating lost charges.
Advanced nursing functionality (in development) will allow structured documentation, including MAR entry, vitals entry, and In Basket messaging. Also in development are handheld dictation and medication ordering.
EpicOnHand runs on Pocket PC-based handhelds and synchronizes with the server to quickly update patient information. It works with wireless networks, allowing users to send and retrieve information in real time.
